Pastor’s Profile
Pastor W. Wayne Nel was born in Mutare on the eastern border of Zimbawe in 1969.
The eldest of four children, Wayne grew up in a nation divided as the country, then known as Rhodesia, was gripped in the throes of a civil war. His father, Billy (William), worked on the railways whilst his mom chose to stay at home to raise the family consisting two boys and two girls.
Billy committed his life totally to the Lord not long after Wayne was born and soon became a minister of the Gospel, preaching regularly at the local Full Gospel church in Mutare. His passion for the Lord and love for people soon saw Billy pastoring full time as the family moved to Bulwayo in 1987.
Wayne attended Peterhouse, a private boarding school, where he excelled academically. He then went on to become a Rotary Exchange Student to Metamora, Illinios in the USA, where he developed a passion for graphic design. On his return to Zimbabwe he chose to study the arts graduating form the Bulawayo Polytechnic with a diploma in applied art and design.
With more than ten years experience in advertising Wayne, following in the steps of his father, eventually responded to the call to full time ministry in July 2005. Ordained in December of that year Wayne is now senior pastor of Revival Centre Ministries.
Wayne cannot recall a time when he has not known the Lord and has diligently sought Him throughout his life. Baptised in water at 12 and filled with the Holy Spirit, Wayne has been actively involved in the life of his local church from an early age. Wayne has been a cell leader, youth leader, worship leader (he plays the drums) and elder. It was merely a matter of time before he took the step to full time ministry.
Wayne is married (1997) to Georgia and has three daughters; Gabrielle (1999), Billie Ruth (2001) and Phoebe (2005).
Wayne’s gifting of teaching and exhortation is characterised by a call to holy living. He longs to see every believer, called and led as a child of God, trained and equipped to move forward with faith, hope and love in unity and power so that others, seeing their light, would be drawn to Christ.
Whatever path they follow in obedience, Wayne and Georgia have adopted this scripture as our own:
Trust in the Lord with all your heart,
And lean not on your own understanding;
In all your ways acknowledge Him,
And He shall direct your paths.
Proverbs 3:5&6
